Playing cards Kupecheskiye

In the design of the playing cards "Merchant" used portraits of typical representatives of the merchant class of Russia in the XIX century. The authors of the portraits are famous and unknown artists who painted in oil on canvas of their contemporaries on their order. Previously, these portraits adorned the walls of the houses of merchant families, were inherited by descendants, are currently kept in museums in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Rybinsk, Uglich, Murom. The characters represented in the portraits have now taken their special places as kings, queens and jacks in a deck of playing cards dedicated to them. The cards are also decorated with old photographs of views of Russian cities, on the jokers - photographs of merchants, on the shirt - a fragment of Boris Kustodiev's painting "Merchant's Woman for Tea", 1918.
